Louis Vuitton date codes use two letters (factory) and four numbers (week/year) on pre-2021 bags. Since 2021 many items use NFC chips instead. Correct format does not prove authenticity, counterfeits copy codes.
Reading LV date codes
Codes appear on leather tabs or are heat-stamped into lining. Factory letters correspond to manufacturing locations documented by collectors.
The code must match the bag model era, an impossible combination is a red flag.
NFC era
Newer Louis Vuitton pieces may use embedded NFC chips. Scanning can support authenticity but still benefits from professional construction review.
