I put my trainers in the washing machine and they look worse. Can you rescue them?
Quick answer
Often, yes. Machine washing can crack leather, matt suede, warp foam, and start to unglue soles, but a professional hand clean can frequently improve a pair afterwards by cleaning each material correctly, reconditioning leather, and re-setting suede. Some machine damage (unglued soles, deep warping) can't be reversed, and we'll always tell you honestly what's recoverable before we start.

That's a really common one, sorry it happened. Hot washes and spin cycles dry out and crack leather, and they can start loosening the glue that holds the sole on. The good news is a lot can usually be improved: we clean the leather by hand and recondition it to bring back some suppleness and even out the finish, and we treat any suede or fabric parts the right way rather than soaking them again.

Keep leather, suede, and designer pairs out of the machine entirely, and never tumble dry. For regular upkeep a soft brush and a wipe is enough, and when they need a proper refresh, a hand deep clean is much safer than a 40-degree wash.
